No discussion about the energy transition is complete without a mention of the role hydrogen will play, and it was great to get a first-hand look at some of the latest hydrogen vehicles being rolled out in Aotearoa.

Powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology hydrogen buses, boats, cars and trucks are all emerging as viable options as we decarbonise transportation.

In addition to the Auckland bus being trialled by Auckland Transport, NZ Post is getting goods to homes and businesses using a hydrogen truck, and the Emirates Team New Zealand hydrogen chase boat will support the team to victory at the next America’s Cup.

Today’s field trip drove home why there is growing excitement across the transport and energy sector around hydrogen technology, and the role hydrogen has, to power not just how we drive, but also how we live.
